    • Encouraging participation in global initiatives in order to ensure that diverse European requirements are properly addressed by those global initiatives.

    • Carefully examining and taking into account the various effects on learning and training technology standards which are due to the diversity of cultural backgrounds and languages that exists within Europe.

  • 2. What information has the Observatory?
    Information available at repository will at least include but should not be restricted to:
    • Summary of each standard including key data in order to allow the user to grasp the gist of the specification. The main aim is to prevent users from needing to read the technical details of the whole specification.
    • Tracking data on the evolution of the standard through the different drafts.
    • Relationship and main difference among proposed specifications and standards for the same category (e.g. AICC CMI and ADL SCORM, LTSC LOM and IMS metadata, IMS LIP and LTSC PAPI, etc.)
    • Clarification of the relationships between formal standardization bodies (ISO, CEN, IEEE), specification development consortia (such as Ariadne and IMS) and profiling bodies (such as CANCORE, ALIC and others)
    • Links to the complete set of specifications (if available online) or to the actual uptake of specifications and standards
    • Information about relevant events, activities and organizations

  • 3. What is the LTSO IMS Package?
    It is a compilation in a IMS Package of all the contents published in the LTSO. This package is organized in accordance with the IMS Content Package specification. Therefore, it is possible to load and view this package in any system that supports this specification.

  • 4. What is the LTSO PDF Version?
    It is a compilation in a pdf document of all the contents published in the LTSO. This document enables you to download all the contents included in the observatory and to review them off-line. In addition, it is a perfect way to keep a history of these contents and track the evolution of the learning technology standards.

  • 5. What is the CEN LTSO Newsletter?
    This is a compilation of the news and events published in the LTSO. You can choose the month and year to download a pdf including all the news and events that have been published in the observatory.

  • 6. I can't see anything in the Events calendar section?
    This is a strange bug that happens with the Google Calendar application in Safari Web browsers. The LTSO uses this Google application to provide the Calendar functionality.

    To solve this problem, you have just to remove all the cookies in your Web browser. You can do it in the Preferences-Security section of your Safari main menu. If you click in the Show Cookies option you will be able to remove all them.
