The IEEE LTSC LOM Working group is now considering how to evolve LOM. For this purpose, we request input and feedback from the community:
- If you have been using LOM, then we want to know about your experiences:
- how many LOM instances have you created?
- what were the main difficulties you encountered?
- which metadata elements have you used mainly and how?
- what metadata values have you deployed, including controlled vocabularies or classifications?
- etc.
- If you have considered LOM, but have chosen an alternative metadata standard or schema, then we also want to hear from you:
- which alternative have you adopted?
- what was the main motivation?
- how do you evaluate your decision now?
- what is the main requirement that LOM did not meet for you?
- etc.
As always, this is an open process: you do not have to be a member of anything or pay a fee of any kind to participate!
You can send your input to the LOM working group chair (who will make your input public on the LOM mailing list and this wiki) or you can add it to the wiki yourself.
Moreover, we hold regular meetings with the FlashMeeting tool: the recordings of these meetings are available. - The next meeting of the LOM working group will take place on Thursday 18 February.
Finally, in the week of 22 March, we will have a face-to-face LOM working group meeting, co-located with other LTSC working group meetings and the Learning Solutions conference. At this meeting, we will decide how we want to proceed with LOM: options include
- a limited update that we can finalize in 2010,
- a longer term activity,
- something else.
We strongly encourage you to participate in this meeting: we will provide ways to participate on-line as well.
