Aviation Industry CBT Committee
The AICC has delivered several documents which main goal is to provide a set of guidelines and recommendations on digital formats that promote interoperability among courseware systems.

More specifically, below are enumerated the purpose of the published documents:
  • Digital Audio (AGR003). This document recommends guidelines that promote the interoperability of digital audio. Interoperability means the ability of courseware with audio to playback on different personal computers with different audio cards in them. It also means the ability of a single PC to playback courses with audio from different vendors

  • Digital Video (AGR008). This document recommends guidelines for the creation, distribution, and use of digital video in CBT courseware. The purpose of these guidelines is to facilitate the cost effective use of digital video in CBT

  • Digital Audio Portability Guidelines (AUD002). This document presents the recommendations of the AICC for the portability of applications and authoring systems that use digital audio hardware, software, and data. The recommendations are based on functional definitions developed with input from the AICC membership

  • Guidelines for CBT Courseware Interchange (CRS004). This document describes recommended data import/export features for authoring systems. These recommendations are designed to facilitate the interchange and reuse of CBT courseware.

  • Bitmap Graphic File Format (CRS005). This document attemps to identify a common way to store graphic and image files in order to have a possibility of exchange within courseware

  • The Use of Digital Video in Computer Based Training (MPD011). This document provides background information on analog and digital video and recommendations for the use of digital video in computer based training

The ISO/IEC JTC1 SC36 Working Group 6: Supportive Technology and Specification Integration is developing profile standards consisting of existing ISO, IEC and consortia standards, enabling the use of needed multiple domain standards that support e-learning environments.

This group is working in the following projects:
